Happy Galentine’s Day my lady pals!
According to Leslie Knope, the day before Valentine’s Day, February 13 (which means this Friday!), is known as Galentine’s Day, a day for ladies to celebrate ladies with creative and thoughtful gifts over brunch, more specifically waffles. And for those of you who don’t know, I am a major Parks and Recreation fan. How can I not be?? There’s Amy Poehler, a mini horse, nutty small town charm, and, more importantly, a deep love for breakfast foods.
This Galentine’s Day, I decided to make these lovely Chocolate Kiss Cookies.
They reminded me of Leslie Knope on Parks and Rec. I think it’s because of the cookies with the red, purple, pink, and white sprinkles looks like the blouse Leslie wears in the first ever Galentine’s Day episode in season 2. These cookies are super easy and fun to make. I already had the chocolate jimmies but no festive valentine sprinkles! So I went out and found this great container with like six different kinds of sprinkles from Target. I also saved a few bucks by getting my Hershey kisses and hugs at Party City (15 for $1)!
I love the look of the striped hugs in these cookies! The milk chocolate just kind of disappears into the color of the cookie, but the hugs really stand out. The blog where I found this recipe had trouble with the hugs melting into little zebra striped pools in the cookies. But I didn’t find that to be a problem. As with any kiss blossom cookie, you need to allow sufficient time for chocolate to harden. The chocolate will be melty for some time, but will still keep its shape. Also, I am not the biggest fan of sprinkles. I feel like, although they make for great decoration, they generally just get in the way. But they looked so great with these cookies!

This shop features amazing Valentine’s cards, with such phrases as “You’re the Obi-Wan for Me” and “Are you a Dementor? Because you take my breath away,” so solidly cornering the market there.
And *bonus* whoever wants to get this for me, please&thankyou. A beautiful homage to the other holiday that Parks & Recreation created.
The first mention of Galentine’s Day in Season 2
And another Galentine’s Day episode in Season 4
For those of you with friends who have never heard of any of these things, educate them by binge watching the series in its entirety on Netflix. And while you’re at it, give them some quality reading material. I promise it will only enrich your friendship.
A very Happy Galentine’s Day to all!
